I guess both address kind of the same target groups The ZTE Axon 7 Vs OnePlus 3T because both have a 5.5 inch display both have an aluminum unibody. And especially both cost the same almost at least in Germany Europe. We have one at 49 and 439 euros including tech. So in this post we’ll see what are the same features what are the differences. And especially our first test results for you concerning battery runtime and processor performance.
One of the first differences is obvious because you see here on the ZTE these Jerry of front speakers. While we just have a mono speaker here in the bottom edge of the OnePlus 3T. I know some of you or most of your I guess we’ll just have some ringtones for the phones. But I know there are guys out there and use it for example for watching YouTube videos. And in that case stereo front speakers going right in your face.
I would prefer this one, I know it’s almost a compromise if you want to have a good sound you use Bluetooth speakers or even better your headphone of course. I know but nevertheless in case you have to then this is better than a mono. I would say then concerning the haptics let me call it like that, because I was a little bit of surprise because the ZTE Axon 7 weight is 175 grams instead of 159.
So I thought it’s feeling way more heavy but it’s kind of the same because both are so big and both have this curve backside. Here so both are resting really great in the pan for their size. So I do not feel this difference so for me at least I would lay any buying decision onto the different weight.
There are way more important things. And we are coming to those display both super amoled both diamond matrix both 5.5 inch almost a 139 millimeters. But the big difference is the resolution because here on the OnePlus 3T we have full HD mean 1080 by 1920 pixels. And on the ZTE Axon 7 is 1440 by 2560 pixels.
So we have a completely different sharpness pixel density here. It’s 449 pixels per square millimeter or 539 PPI and on the oneplus sweetie it’s 251 pixels per square millimeter or 4 or 2 PPI meaning here on the ZTE Axon 7 its 79%. Sharper on paper meaning higher pixel density, but the big question always is what do? I see of that in real daily life. So I prepared this photo here it’s a very same and it’s in both cases 4k. So both have to render down a little and let me go to the middle to the center of the picture.

Then both have 4G, 300MB per second both have dual set HSPA on the OnePlus 3T Wi-Fi with 5 ghz band. So Wi-Fi AC no Wi-Fi AC and no Wi-Fi n in the 5 ghz band in the new one the quicker one here for the ZTE Axon 7. Both have a fingerprint sensor here it’s on the back side here it’s on the front and now.
The battery runtime results both have a fixed in a built in battery of course Aluminium Unibody. You cannot remove anything here and on the ZTE it’s 3250mAh battery, on the OnePlus 3T it’s 3400mAh. And remember that’s why I told you about the screen resolution Full HD quad HD. So you have way less pixels to move to calculate and you will see that in the benchmarks. And you have the bigger battery of course here on the excellent Axon 7 it’s 515 minutes. That’s 3% above the average. And on the OnePlus 3G it’s 686 minutes at 39% above.
The average meaning 33% longer then the Axon 7 and with 39% above the average even have users should come over. The day without having to recharge, I’d say but here with 3% only forget about it. You have to recharge as a heavy user this will bring through the day. Only regular users I’d say so have users regular users in case of that but maybe and because you cannot you can except here.
The camera I’d say on the front here is the OnePlus 3 on top because we have here 16MP and 8MP on the ZTE both shoot videos on the front in Full HD. It’s the aperture this is a little bit darker with F 2.2. And Here it’s a little bit higher with F 2 on the back side.
It’s quite other way around because the ZTE has 99.9MP and OnePlus 3 has 60.20, 16 MP both have an optical image stabilizer both record videos in 4k or ultra HD not once more. Their page aperture makes the difference because here the ZTE has an F 1.8 and the OnePlus 3T has an F 2.0 not. So much shading more light here on the Axon 7. By the way you have two white LEDs instead of one here.
The processor here it’s a Snapdragon 820. And on the right it’s a step Dragon 821 on the new OnePlus 3T. So both have four calls the same powerful cryo cores but the clock rate is different different because here on the CTE. It’s 2.15 and 1.6GHz and here it’s 2.34 and 2.2GHz. So especially the lower ones are way more powerful here. But would have the same Adreno 530 graphics unit here it’s full gigabyte of ram.
And on the OnePlus 3 it’s six. So in the overall ranking of more than 40 well, use I’m getting out of 15 different benchmarks here. The OnePlus 3T the Axon 7 is 59% above the average rank 11 plus retrieve. We come 83% above the average rank 7. So a little bit more horsepower but you would not feel that. I’d say in everyday life because you need apps for example graphically advanced games or something to make any difference.
Memory there’s a catch on the OnePlus 3T because both have a 64GB internal memory leaving net 51 and 52GB round about. So here we are coming to the inner values of the OnePlus 3T you see here both slots are dedicated nano SIM slots. You cannot insert a microSD meaning you cannot expand the memory on the OnePlus 3 team. So it’s different here on the Axon 7.
Go like that and like this you see there is the first slot nano SIM here and the second is you can it’s a hybrid slot. You have the choice between a second nano sim that way or a micro sim micro SD card. That way so here you can expand the memory but you have 64GB only while you have a second version of the OnePlus R ET with 128GB leaving net 110GB.
I guess that way is fair now for you. So see you for yourself if you see any difference let me know in the comments below. I can’t wait for your opinion because, I do not see much difference here especially these tiny details here both very sharp even with a magnifier.
It’s hard to tell so for me once more I wouldn’t buy my lay my buying decision onto this at least marginal difference. And coming to brightness it’s also a little difference because we have on the ZTE here below 363 and it’s 8% below the average for OLEDs. And 449 on the upper one on the 3T that’s 15% for 10% above the average for wall-e D. So a little bit brighter here but once more you see for yourself it’s not a big difference.
